As we said in our full Blu-ray review of 007: Quantum of Solace, the film is considerably more action-packed than Casino Royale, a fact that may not resonate as well with some viewers, but one that upholds a longstanding tradition for action sequels. Like it or not, tradition is tradition, and we're not ones to argue (too loudly). Yet another tradition is quite welcome with 007: Quantum of Solace -- D-BOX absolutely owning the vehicle-chase motion scene. One of the things D-BOX engineers have always done well is vehicle scenes, particularly …

Donnie Darko D-BOX Review
Donnie Darko has enjoyed an incredible cult-like following since the film's debut in 2001. What that cult sees in this film is beyond me. The plot of Donnie Darko is by far the most nonsensical, random, ridiculous and acid-trip-induced sojourn I've ever seen. Donnie is a mid-1980s high school student who's trudging through parental-induced therapy, has taken himself off his medications and is suffering from an acute case of teenage angst. Not exactly a good combo. Oh, and did I mention he's routinely visited by a demonic six-foot-tall rabbit …

Babylon A.D. D-BOX Review
Consumers got their first big-screen taste of D-BOX Motion Code a few weeks ago with the theatrical debut of Fast and Furious, so it's only appropriate that one of the latest D-BOX Blu-ray movies to release also stars Vin Diesel: Babylon A.D. D-BOX engineers consistently produce realistic car sequences, so the Fast and Furious debut was a logical first step for a theatrical application. After all, if you're going to make a good first impression, you may as well play to your strengths.
Ironically, "ambient" is probably the best way to describe …

Max Payne D-BOX Review
D-BOX Motion Code is just what the doctor ordered for some movies. Case in point, The Happening, a movie that absolutely sucked but that D-BOX was able to resuscitate slightly with its nuanced movements and attention to detail. Another example is Max Payne, which just released on Blu-ray with D-BOX support and essentially gave fodder for conspiracy theorists everywhere. How else can one explain the apparently cosmic connection between Mark Wahlberg and D-BOX? Is it a contract in which D-BOX is responsible for saving Wahlberg's Blu-ray releases? …

Transformers D-BOX Review
I know The Dark Knight got all sorts of praise last year, and I know the latest Batman film has D-BOX Motion Code, which we'll eventually review. But forgive me for a moment while I divulge one tiny, miniscule but very important secret: Transformers is still a hot property for us children of the '80s, and the D-BOX support for Transformers on Blu-ray will darn near make you forget all about the Caped Crusader and his nefarious, joking nemesis.
Transformers isn't exactly a new Blu-ray release, having shipped out in early September, but for …

The Hunt for Red October D-BOX Review
The Hunt for Red October was one of my favorite movies of the early 1990s, one of the few films I kept on VHS even as DVD started taking over local video stores' shelves. I've been a big fan of Sean Connery since his James Bond days, which helped, but the real draw was its hot-button political intrigue and underwater setting, neither of which had really come into its own at that time. When The Hunt for Red October dove onto Blu-ray Disc, I decided to toss the old, duty VHS copy aside and move up to the world of HD submarines. The real draw, …

The Happening D-BOX Review
It's not that often that D-BOX Motion Code is the best feature on a Blu-ray movie. A great complementary feature, yes, but hands-down the best aspect of the entire production? With The Happening, that's exactly the case. I'm not going to sugar-coat it: The Happening is the worst thing to happen to Blu-ray Disc since the format debuted. Well, except maybe Zombie Strippers; hard to find much "right" with that one. The saving grace with The Happening on Blu-ray is D-BOX Motion Code, both because it's a fantastic technology and because its novelty …

National Treasure 2 D-BOX Review
The National Treasure series has arguably become the new generation's Indiana Jones. Sure, Nicolas Cage's character focuses more on textbook history than archaeological discovery, but Indy's spirit of adventure and exploration are alive and kicking. "Kicking" also happens to be the perfect word for the Blu-ray version of National Treasure 2, which includes D-BOX Motion Code support from start to finish. Although National Treasure 2 includes only a handful of overtly "D-BOXed" scenes, the overall focus on subtle motions and audio-triggered …

The 6th Day D-BOX Review
The 6th Day was one of only a handful of here-and-gone movies starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, a rather surprising development considering the film is chock full of action scenes. Ah-nuld and action normally bring out the box office best, but such was not the case with this film. With its release on Blu-ray Disc, The 6th Day clearly tried to reach new viewers, a mission that got a huge assist from D-BOX Technologies, which has included its Motion Code support directly on the disc.
The 6th Day wraps the subject of cloning in a thick blanket of …

The Nightmare Before Christmas D-BOX Review
The Nightmare Before Christmas is one of Walt Disney Pictures' biggest Blu-ray releases of 2008, save for maybe Wall*E and Sleeping Beauty (Disney's first Platinum Edition Blu-ray). The movie and its stop-motion star, Jack Skellington, have developed such a cult following, in fact, that Disney re-decorates its Haunted Mansion theme park ride every Halloween to reflect the would-be Santa impersonator. So to have The Nightmare Before Christmas appear on Blu-ray is not only a nod to Disney's stalwart support of the HD format, but a nod to fans' …
