Starting today, Wii owners with broadband access can subscribe to Hulu Plus and stream current-season and full back seasons of hit TV shows as well as hundreds of movies. Nintendo Wii owners with a broadband Internet connection can visit the Wii Shop Channel to download the Hulu Plus application at no charge. There is a subscription fee for Hulu Plus, though: $7.99 per month. The Hulu Plus application allows users to navigate using the Wii Remote controller and search for their favorite TV shows, movies and clips. For the first month of …

New FIFA Street Game Modes Video

February 9, 2012 By Sara Leave a Comment

David Beckham's Super Bowl ad caused a bit of a stir, bringing football/soccer right up to the top of folks' awareness at a time it might otherwise not be. EA has another reason to get you thinking about soccer, though, releasing today an all-new video for FIFA Street in which the developers discuss the various game modes. FIFA Street brings an urban, somewhat-grungy feel to the refined sport of soccer, which may ultimately make the game more appealing to gamers who wouldn't otherwise pay attention. You can watch the video below to learn …

Skylanders fans -- ourselves included -- are in for a big treat (literally) later this year, as Activision has announced eight new oversized characters/toys are on their way as part of the new Skylanders Giants collection. In fact, Skylanders Giants isn't just a new set of toys, but an all-new installment in the franchise featuring a variety of new characters, new challenges, a new story-driven adventure and advanced integration across console, handheld, mobile and online platforms. Nintendo Gets a New Spokesman — Sort Of

February 8, 2012 By Sara Leave a Comment
Nintendo logo

Nintendo's had several "pseudo-official" public faces over the years, highlighted of course by Shigeru Miyamoto and Mario, but for the month of February, Nintendo's marketing team has pulled an arguably weird stunt by making a dog the company's public face. That's because February is Responsible Pet Owners Month, you see. As if that justifies the decision.... Today, Nintendo of America announced it's teaming up with Uggie, the Jack Russell terrier "co-star" of The Artist, who will act as Nintendo’'s "spokesdog," spreading the word about …

For those handheld gaming fans who need a new system and for some reason can't wait for Sony's PlayStation Vita, there's a "new" Nintendo 3DS on the way this week that's just waiting to take that money burning a hole in your pocket. On Feb. 10, Nintendo will release a Valentine's Day-themed "Pearl Pink" edition of the Nintendo 3DS handheld system. The pink version was previously available only as part of a limited-edition bundle. The pink Nintendo 3DS will be available as a stand-alone item at retailers nationwide for an MSRP of …

Zen Pinball 3D Review

January 15, 2012 By Jeff Paramchuk Leave a Comment
Zen3d

Zen Studios is slowing creeping onto each and every platform possible, and making a pinball splash each time. The latest is a Nintendo 3DS eShop release of Zen Pinball 3D, which came out Jan 12 in North America. Featuring four tables, all of which are available on the standard Zen Pinball release (and two on Pinball FX2) this move to 3D is a little superfluous but yet still is a very nice addition to the genre. Plus, being an eShop release means you don’t need to lug around another cartridge to get your pinball fix. The tables included are …

Skylanders: Spyro’s Adventure Review

December 22, 2011 By Jonas Allen 2 Comments
Skylanders Review

I’ve been struggling for a while now to post my Skylanders: Spyro’s Adventure review, because I’ve honestly had trouble putting the darn thing down. The overall concept is the most unique technological concept to come out of the game industry in 2011: the family-friendly action RPG uses real-world toys with embedded memory chips to track each character’s upgrades, and players can swap out their on-screen character with a new one at any time simply by placing a new toy on the Portal of Power accessory. Players can even take their toy(s) …

2011 Video Game Gift Guide

OK, folks, it’s t-minus 10 days and counting until Christmas, so if you’re still rounding-out your shopping list, there’s no time like the present to get cracking on those, err, presents. The year 2011 has seen some great original games, some excellent sequels and laid the groundwork for what promises to be an outstanding 2012. But before we look to the New Year, we’ve got to focus first on the holidays, which naturally brings us to our 2011 Holiday Gift Guide. We realize time is precious at this point, so we’re keeping this …

Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword Review

November 27, 2011 By Jeff Paramchuk 1 Comment
Zelda_Feature

Nintendo has the market cornered on long living video game characters, and in celebration of The Legend of Zelda’s 25th year they’ve released another excellent LoZ title with Skyward Sword.  A large amount of fan service is done with this title, as it’s clearly placed before the other most loved title by fans, Ocarina of Time (I still much prefer Wind Waker,) and helps shed some light into the origins of the Master Sword. Interestingly enough, series mainstay Gannon(dorf) is no where to be found, and entirely new set of dangers awaits …

Two Limited-Edition Nintendo 3DS Bundles to Release Thanksgiving Day

November 21, 2011 By Jonas Allen Leave a Comment
Nintendo 3DS Logo

While we're all sitting at the table this Thanksgiving gorging on turkey, stuffing, potatoes and pie, Nintendo will be pressing retailers to launch two new 3DS bundles in time for the Black Friday shopping debacle. Both Nintendo 3DS bundles will be limited editions. The first new Nintendo 3DS bundle includes Super Mario 3D Land (read our review here) and a Flame Red Nintendo 3DS system. The second bundle includes The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D and a special 25th anniversary limited-edition Cosmo Black Nintendo 3DS marked with the …
