Going after the Wii U hacker and 3DS hacker is … [Read more...]

Disney Interactive's Disney Planes video game has taken off at retailers today exclusively for Nintendo platforms. Wii U Getting Call of Duty: Ghosts, Five More Activision Games

Rumors of the Wii U's death are apparently greatly exaggerated, as Activision today confirmed that Call of Duty: Ghosts will ship for the Wii U this fall, along with five other games from the mega publisher. COD: Ghosts and Skylanders: Swap Force may be at opposite ends of the gaming spectrum, but they're both fantastic news for a Wii U platform that's been left behind by EA and is perceived as having no third-party support. Having the support of Activision-Blizzard, the largest console-game publisher around, is certainly a sign that the sky … [Read more...]

Mario Kart 8, aka "Mario Kart U" by some fans, is revving its engines to appear on the Wii U, the first time in five years Nintendo's go-karting franchise has had a new iteration on one of its home consoles. Other franchises have tried to succeed in the genre, but they're invariably compared to Mario Kart, often unfavorably, because the Nintendo series has ruled the roost since it started the karting phenomenon decades ago. Mario Kart 8, like the karting games before it, is rife with Nintendo-based drivers that can drive over weapons … [Read more...]

No Nintendo Layoffs, Though it “Might be Too Late” for Wii U

Nintendo has officially ceased development of the Wii Vitality Sensor due to lack of accurate biometric readings, a rather public (though predictable) end for the accessory that comes just six months after reducing its annual Wii U sales projections by 28%, from 5.5 million units to 4 million. Yet Nintendo layoffs are not on the table, nor is a corporate restructuring, to help bridge the financial gap, according to Nintendo leadership. Having endured operating losses for two years, Nintendo president Satoru Iwata would seemingly be under … [Read more...]

Bad Reviews for The Lone Ranger: Will it Hurt Disney Infinity?

Disney’s The Lone Ranger opened in theaters last night, with poor reviews surfacing today and a surprising amount of apathy rearing its ugly head for Disney’s would-be summer blockbuster. According to early box-office reports, Despicable Me 2 opened with more than twice the ticket sales of The Lone Ranger, showing that even Johnny Depp can be susceptible to animated yellow blobs. And if the number of bad reviews increases for The Lone Ranger, from TheHDRoom and other outlets, Disney’s film may see lower overall weekend box-office results when … [Read more...]
