The Assassin’s Creed franchise has been a bellwether of HD open-world adventure, a tradition Assassin’s Creed Unity plans to uphold as the first next-gen-designed game for the series. With world history as its playground, the Assassin’s Creed series has plenty of fertile ground yet to explore and cool characters yet to introduce. For instance, a new character named Elise who’s the subject of a new Assassins Creed Unity trailer.
This new trailer shows Arno racing against time through Paris in an attempt prevent Elise’s beheading. Ubisoft hasn’t shed all the details about Elise, though they’ve indicated she’ll be a “character central to Assassin’s Creed Unity’s story.”
As an independent young noblewoman, Elise is determined to secure her place in the Templar dynasty amidst the chaos of the French Revolution. Her quest leads her to cross paths with Arno and establish an unlikely bond with him. That sure sounds like the foundation for a playable female protagonist.
One of the reasons Ubisoft hasn’t divulged too much info about Elise is because she’ll be featured in a new paperback, also titled “Assassin’s Creed Unity.” The book, penned by Oliver Bowden, will cover an era when the divide between the rich and poor is at its most extreme, and a nation is tearing itself apart. Told from Elise’s perspective, the book will follow Elise and Arno as they enter the centuries-old battle between the Assassins and Templars.
Set in a once-magnificent Paris, Assassin’s Creed Unity drops gamers into the 1789 French Revolution. Throughout the streets of Paris, the starving inhabitants are set to take up arms for freedom and equality. Hurting after the loss of his loved ones, a young man named Arno sets out on a path of redemption. His pursuit throws him into the middle of a nation’s struggle as he transforms into a Master Assassin.
The Assassin’s Creed Unity release date is Oct. 28. The game will appear on that date for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Windows PC.
