Photo Phrase – The Cure For Those Sick of ‘Draw Something’

October 30, 2012 By Jonas Allen Leave a Comment

San Francisco, California – Available today for iPhone, iPad, and iTouch, Photo Phrase is a free, social photo charades game released by Double Coconut, an independent development studio focused on apps that inspire creativity and self-expression. Free to download, Photo Phrase is a fun and addictive game that lets players combine photos, sketches, and stickers to create pictures that match a given caption. Players then challenge friends and family to guess the right caption via a series of word game types such as Unscramble and Hangman.

A major evolution beyond existing drawing and guessing games, Photo Phrase has a strong real-world component, emphasizing photographs as well as drawings. Players can embellish photos with dozens of hilarious stickers, draw directly on top of their photos with easy painting tools, and then share creations on Facebook, Twitter, and over email. Photo Phrase play is asynchronous so players can crack captions or create new pictures at their own pace.

Additionally, Photo Phrase features a built-in community where players can browse through and rate creations by players from around the world.

“My friends I loved ‘Draw Something’ but got tired of it,” said Angie Newman, a Photo Phrase player. “Being able to play with photos is so much more fun and social.”

“We believe that social games should add meaningful creativity to relationships, and our first game Photo Phrase perfectly showcases this vision,” said Double Coconut CEO David Fox. “By emphasizing real-life photos as well as virtual drawings and stickers, Photo Phrase is not only a fresh approach to mobile games, but also a hilarious, addictive, and refreshing activity that people of all generations will love.”
