The Lego Movie took theaters by storm last fall, with Warner Bros. hoping it’ll do the same to the home-viewing crowd. Warner has announced The Lego Movie Blu-ray release date as June 17, just in time for parents to pop it in to help the kids stay occupied over summer break.
The release date was far from the only big news, as Warner also announced an “Everything is Awesome Edition” of the Lego movie that will include an exclusive Lego minifigure and bonus 3D movie, among other goodies.
The Lego Movie Blu-ray release date will actually see two wildly different SKUs. First is the $35.99 Blu-ray Combo Pack, which is available to pre-order on Amazon for 0 off
The second SKU, which is frankly the version to buy if you can, is called The Lego Movie Everything is Awesome Edition. Normally this edition costs $59.98, but Amazon has pre-orders available for 33% off
The Lego Movie bonus features are almost identical. On the Everything is Awesome Edition you’ll get an extra 3D bonus feature called “Dream Job: Meet The Lego Builders.” Other than that addition, you’ll see the same bonus features on both SKUs once the Lego Movie Blu-ray release date rolls around:

The Lego Movie story follows Emmet, an ordinary, rules-following, perfectly average Lego minifigure who’s mistakenly identified as The Special MasterBuilder, the most extraordinary person and the key to saving the world. He is drafted into a fellowship of strangers on an epic quest to stop an evil tyrant, a journey for which Emmet is hopelessly and hilariously underprepared.
The Lego Movie stars Chris Pratt as the voice of Emmet; Will Ferrell as the voice of President Business, aka “Lord Business,” an uptight CEO who has a hard time balancing world domination with micro-managing his own life; Morgan Freeman as the ancient mystic, Vitruvius; Elizabeth Banks (“The Hunger Games”) as tough-as-nails Wyldstyle, who mistakes Emmet for the savior of the world and guides him on his quest; Will Arnett (“The Millers”) as the mysterious Batman, a LEGO minifigure with whom Wyldstyle shares a history; Nick Offerman (“Parks and Recreation”) as the craggy, swaggering pirate Metal Beard, obsessed with revenge on Lord Business; Alison Brie (“Community”) as the sweet and loveable Unikitty; and Charlie Day (“It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia”) as Benny, the 1980-something Spaceman.
