Sierra Games Closing Its Doors?

06/22/04

Sierra Games, a perennial fan-favorite game developer, is all but closing its doors, according to the Puget Sound Business Journal, with 110 employees being laid off in the next two months.

The mass layoff will eliminate nearly all the jobs once offered by the studio. It comes as part of a larger, 350-employee "restructuring" at Vivendi Universal Games.

There has been no word yet about what will happen to the games currently under development at Sierra, but presumably all development and publishing rights will make a transition to parent company VU Games.
