Video Preview: "Star Wars: Republic Commando"

06/26/04

Since it was debuted in a gritty game trailer at E3 2003, we've been looking forward to Star Wars: Republic Commando, the first truly dark game in the "Star Wars" franchise and the next in a long line of squad-based shooters headed for Xbox.

This year we were hoping to get our hands on the game itself, and lo and behold, we were able to do just that. Initially skeptical, we ended up finding ourselves immersed in the action and commanding our clone-trooper teammates with ease. In addition, although the graphics were still somewhat early, they showed great promise, as did the teammate AI, which was somehow too intelligent in the early build.

What we saw this year left us encouraged, but you don't take our word for it. Nope. Instead, you should check out the game for yourself in this hot new video preview. With in-game footage and explanations of various aspects of the game, the video preview linked below should more than satisfy your "Star Wars" craving for the next few weeks.
