State of Play DVD Giveaway

The television mini series is a bit of a lost art, or at least lost to all but cable TV. Years ago, mini series were common on network television, but with the rise of TNT and the USA Network, the American mini series has been relegated to non-standard channels. In the UK, the situation is far different. Case in point: State of Play, starring Bill Nighy and a host of others. Not only was this BBC mini series a smash hit in Europe, but it inspired a Hollywood motion picture releasing in 2009 with Russell Crowe, Ben Affleck and Helen Mirren. We thought you might be interested in seeing the BBC mini series that started it all, so we're giving away three copies of the BBC's State of Play on DVD.

DVD synopsis: In this original BBC mini-series that inspired the film, Bill Nighy, David Morrissey, James McAvoy and John Simm play roles that explore the shady dealings between the government and major corporations. Stephen Collins is an ambitious politician. Cal McCaffrey is a respected investigative journalist and Stephen's ex-campaign manager. En route to work one morning, Stephen's research assistant mysteriously falls to her death on the London Underground. Meanwhile, a suspected teenage drug dealer is shot dead, and revelations pile up in the aftermath of these two seemingly unconnected events. Ultimately, light is shed on shady dealings between the government and major corporate powers.
