EA Unveils Celebrity Sports Showdown for Wii

Electronic Arts today unveiled the first game scheduled to ship under its new EA Sports Freestyle brand. And no, it's not an SSX game. Far from it, in fact. Called Celebrity Sports Showdown, the all-new franchise in development at EA Canada will be a Wii-exclusive game.

Developed by the team behind EA Playground, Celebrity Sports Showdown features 12 outdoor sports games designed to be played as party games. Gamers will be able to play as celebrities ranging from Fergie and Avril Lavigne to Paul Pierce and Mia Hamm. Consider it a sort of Celebrity Deathmatch, but with less violence and family-friendly sports games.

The party games included in Celebrity Sports Showdown will range from Wild Water Canoeing, Inner-Tubing, and Beach Volleyball to Badminton, Dodgeball and Curling. A full list of games is below. Also included below is the full roster of celebrities included in the game.
