Jagged Alliance RPG Announced for Nintendo DS

Empire Interactive has announced a new RPG for the DS called Jagged Alliance. In development by Strategy First and Cypron Studios, Jagged Alliance will fuse elements of the role-playing genre with turn-based tactical combat.

Jagged Alliance first debuted in 1994, but obviously not on the DS. This new game will return a new generation of gamers to the island of Metavira, which players must liberate like older gamers did in the original game.

Specific DS gameplay details haven't yet been announced, but it's safe to say the game itself will be similar to the original yet incorporate the DS' touch screen interface.

Empire will distribute Jagged Alliance in North America through an agreement with Atari. No release date was announced.
