Sanyo Unveils Budget Friendly 720p Projector

Just days before CEDIA kicks off next week in Denver, Sanyo has unveiled a new 720p LCD projector designed for more budget-minded consumers. The PLV-Z60, which will retail in September for $1,295, features Sanyo's 3D color-management system, a contrast ratio of 10,000:1 and a lens shifting function.

Sanyo's PLV-Z60 is equipped with three wide 16:9 HD LCD panels that produce a 1280 x 720 image. A 12-bit digital processing IC provides video decoding, scaling and gamma curve generation, which teams with the projector's 10000:1 contrast ratio to create rich back levels and good saturation.

The PLV-Z60 is outfitted with Sanyo's lens shifting function and a 2x optical zoom, which allows projection of a 100-inch image from 9.8 to 20 feet away. The side panel adjustments move the lens vertically and horizontally to project a geometrically accurate picture. Fine-tuning of image settings including hue, gamma curve and color levels.

In terms of inputs, the projector has a variety of terminals including two HDMI connections, two sets of component video inputs, and composite and S-video connections. A D-Sub 15 input is also provided for directly connecting the projector to a PC.
