01/08/10

Dragon Age: Origins has taken the PC, Xbox 360 and PS3 gaming world by storm, but fans of BioWare's newest RPG have even more to look forward to in March: the game's first expansion pack.

Called Dragon Age: Origins Awakening, the first official expansion pack to Dragon Age: Origins will ship on March 16 and include a new area of the world to explore known as Amaranthine. The plot of the expansion pack revolves around the secrets of the darkspawn and their true motivations. Awakening will also let players customize their heroes and party in new ways, such as being able to re-spec character attributes. In addition, there will be an increased level cap, new spells and abilities, new specializations and five new party members.

The PC and Xbox 360 expansion pack takes place after the events of Dragon Age: Origins with players assuming the role of a Grey Warden Commander. While rebuilding the ranks of the Grey Wardens, players must uncover the mystery of how the darkspawn survive after the slaying of the Archdemon. Players will be able to import their character from Dragon Age: Origins or start out as a new Grey Warden from the neighboring land of Orlais.

Dragon Age: Origins Awakening will be available for $39.99 on PC, Xbox 360 and PS3. It will require players to also own a copy of Dragon Age: Origins.
