Instead, any big ground gains will come from Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch. Lynch has been in the news a lot lately with speculation that he won’t be returning to Seattle next season. No matter. Though the Niners allow just 97.2 rushing yards per game, Lynch is known for running wild at home. Look for a big game for him today.
That’s not good news for the 49ers. If the 49ers lose today’s Seahawks game, their playoff aspirations will be all but crushed. A loss would also fuel the fire about coach Jim Harbaugh possibly leaving his post at the end of the season, perhaps bolting for the 49ers’ Bay Area rival Oakland Raiders.
Seattle, meanwhile, will look to shore-up its record as it enters a brutal stretch of three games that include a road game against the Arizona Cardinals next week and a season-ending game at home against the Rams on Dec. 28.
