Amid all the next-gen launch bustle, many people may have lost sight of one of the best games we saw at E3 2013: Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare. We sure didn’t, although we’ll admit that hearing that the Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare release date has moved to Feb. 25 got us giddy. The Xbox One game being available just five weeks from now is great news.
Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare will hit Xbox One and Xbox 360 on Feb. 25 in North America. The European Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare release date is just two days later, on Feb. 27.
Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare is a third-person shooter like no other. How so? Well, let’s just say not too many shooters let you shoot peas from your face, invade the skies as a garlic drone or play as a zombie with a dolphin gun.
In addition, all the plants in the game will have all-new reinforcements such as Ice Pea, Hot Rod Chomper, Future Cactus and Mystic Sunflower. PvZ Garden Warfare will also have characters outfitted with special abilities, new gameplay mechanics and cool costumes.
Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare features three distinct modes, two 12 vs. 12 competitive multiplayer modes called “Garden & Graveyards” and “Team Vanquish,” and a four-player co-operative mode called “Garden Ops.”
In Garden & Graveyards, plants must defend their garden bases from zombies attempting to turn them into spooky graveyards. Players can also square off in Team Vanquish as they try to send the other team to the compost pile.
The new gameplay developer diary below showcases four-player co-op gameplay mode Garden Ops, in which the Yeti and Giga-Gargantuar bosses make their debut. In Garden Ops, you play in squads of four working together to defend a garden base until Crazy Dave arrives to extract our heroes. Successfully defend the garden through the 11 zombie waves and earn huge rewards.
Again, you’ll be able to play this for yourselves in just six weeks, now that the Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare release date has been moved to Feb. 25.
