Recipe for a Pokémon World Championship.
- Take the biggest Pokémaniacs from 27 different countries and send them to San Diego
- Separate the card players from the video gamers (rumor is, they are like oil and water)
- Let the 400+ gamers battle it out over three days for scholarship prizes totaling over $100,000, merchandise, trips and medals
- Crown champions in each age division.
For those unaware, the Pokémon World Championships just finished up and we’ve got a slew of new champions in both Trading Card and Video Game land. The winner list is below and be sure to scan through the photos to see what this type of event looks like. I will say, it does look like it would be a lot of fun for players of the game.
Congratulations go out to Trading Card winners, Gustavo Wada (Junior Division – Brazil), Christopher Kan (Senior Division, Australia), and David Cohen (Masters Division, USA). Video game champs are Brian Hough (Junior), Kamran Jahadi (Senior) and Ray Rizzo (Masters) all from the United States.
More information on the event can be seen over at https://www.pokemonworldchampionships.com. Perhaps you’ll be the next champion if you choose wisely. Quite honestly, I have no idea who I’d choose – perhaps Charmander simply because I like the way the name rolls off my tongue.
