With the PS Plus May 2014 free games expiring hours from now, Sony has taken the wraps off the PlayStation Plus June 2014 games headed to the PS4, PS3 and PS Vita at midnight. Sony’s changed the model a bit with the PlayStation Plus June 2014 free games list, bringing it more in line with Microsoft’s two-game Games with Gold program.

Unlike in previous months, all PlayStation owners now know the PS Plus June 2014 free games before they actually hit the PlayStation Store. It’s a nice gesture and should alleviate confusion among PS4, PS3 and PS Vita owners. PS Plus subscribers will note two free games on the PlayStation Plus June 2014 games list for each system. That’s a departure from Sony’s four-year-old model, which saw three or more free games in the Instant Game Collection for PS3 and PS Vita and just one free game for PS4.

PS4 owners will like the PlayStation Plus June 2014 games list if for no other reason than it’s plural (“games”) to begin with. With two free games coming in June, and two per month every month after that, PS4 owners who are also PS Plus subscribers just got a nice boost in free content.

The first PS4 PS Plus free game for June is Trine 2: Complete Story. The side-scroller mixes action, puzzles and platforming among three heroes who must traverse a fairytale world to thwart the goblins’ evil plans. The physics-based puzzles use fire, water, gravity and magic, giving a bit more challenge than most brain-teaser-only games.

Next up for PS4 owners on the PlayStation Plus June 2014 free games roster is PixelJunk Shooter Ultimate. This twin-stick shooter also has some puzzle-solving elements, though the majority of the now-free game involves blasting and digging through rock and ice to unleash floods of water, lava, gas, magnetic oil and stomach acid. One cool feature of this free PS Plus game for June is that it’s a cross-buy title, so PS4 owners who also own a PS Vita will get the Vita version for free.

PS3 owners will see a decrease in the flow of free games for their Instant Game Collection in June, but the two games on the way are good additions. First up on the PlayStation Plus June 2014 free games list is NBA 2K14, just in time for the NBA Finals. (Is anyone else glad we can stop talking about Lance Stephenson now?) At least LeBron James is back in the Finals, which is appropriate for the soon-free NBA 2K14. The game features a “Path to Greatness” mode starring King James himself.

PS3 owners will also get a Sly Cooper game as part of the PS Plus June 2014 free game collection. The game, Thieves of Time, happens to be a cross-buy title, so PS Plus members will get both the PS3 and Vita version.

Speaking of Vita, that system will also see two free games as part of its PS Plus June 2014 Instant Game Collection: Terraria and Mutant Mudds Deluxe. Terraria is a sandbox game where players build crazy structures and fight massive bosses. Mutant Mudds Deluxe is an homage to the 2D platformer that lets gamers hop into a third dimension using a jetpack.

If you happen to be in Europe, the free PlayStation Plus June 2014 games include Lone Survivor (PS3), Dragon’s Crown (Vita) and Surge Deluxe (Vita).

Presuming these titles interest you, you won’t have to wait. The free PlayStation Plus June 2014 games will all be available starting tomorrow. No more will PS4, PS3 or PS Vita owners need to check the PS Store weekly to see what’s live. Each of the PS Plus free games for June 2014 will be available all month. That model will continue for the foreseeable future.
