Zombies and the undead are hot pop-culture commodities. Always one to merge hot properties with pinball, Zen Studios has announced a The Walking Dead pinball table based on The Walking Dead Season One. The Walking Dead pinball table has come through another collaboration with Telltale Games.
Zen and Telltale have worked together on every detail of the Walking Dead table design, sharing ideas and finding ways to bring the story of The Walking Dead Season One to the world of pinball.
The match of pinball and The Walking Dead seems odd, particularly from a narrative standpoint, but it’s not unprecedented. Zen Studios hasn’t talked zombies in the past, but they have worked extensively (and successfully) on the Star Wars Pinball tables. Those Star Wars tables have, over the course of several releases, focused on key plot points and adventures from the movies.
Likewise, The Walking Dead pinball table will tour locations from Clementine’s treehouse and Everett’s pharmacy in Macon all the way down the tracks to the walker-infested streets of Savannah. During that journey, players will take a pinball-infused “tour” of The Walking Dead Season One.
The Walking Dead pinball table features choice-driven gameplay across each of Season One’s five episodes, along with original story dialogue from the award-winning cast. Scenarios include choosing who to save and who to leave behind in a walker attack, solving problems and keeping up morale within the group, searching for food and supplies, acquiring important tools, and navigating through the herd amid an oncoming walker breach.
The Walking Dead Pinball table will be available for download later this summer on Zen Studios’ pinball platforms across console, PC and mobile. It will undoubtedly be the first of several tables, considering this one is just based on The Walking Dead Season One.
