Koei Tecmo has taken the wraps off a special Samurai Warriors 4 10th-Anniversary Collector’s Edition. Called the Samurai Warriors 4 Special Anime Pack, the package will be exclusive to PlayStation 4. Slightly different versions of the game will also be available for PS3 and PS Vita.
The Samurai Warriors 4 Special Anime Pack will include a host of special content, both of the downloadable and non-DLC variety. On the surface (literally), Special Anime Pack will come in unique 10th-anniversary Collector’s Edition packaging and include a Samurai Warriors: Legend of the Sanada anime movie on Blu-ray Disc.
In addition, it’ll include the Samurai Warriors 4 Official Soundtrack on CD and three different types of DLC:
- A Special Costume Pack 4: Garcia, Ina, Nene and Oichi
- An Old Costume Pack 1: Yukimura, Mitsuhide, Nobunaga, Noh, Oichi, and Ranmaru
- The Edit Parts Pack 1, which allows facial and Western themed armor customization

Samurai Warriors 4 includes 55 new and updated characters, including Nobuyuki Sanada, Yoshitsugu Otani, Takatora Todo, Naotora Ii and Munenori Yagyu, the latter three of which were previously only available in Japanese releases of Samurai Warriors. The characters have received “major overhauls” of their appearance to go with rearrangements in battle moves for Yukimura Sanada and Nobunaga Oda.
The PS4-exclusive game also includes new Battle Modes and a new ability to switch between two characters in real-time. Players can also make adjustments to morale, Officer development and play with the portable item system from Samurai Warriors 3 that’s making its return.
In the new Chronicle Mode, players will complete various quests, meet new officers and collect items while exploring the world and customizing their warriors in more ways than ever before. Among the improved customizations are new options for the Create Character system.
Samurai Warriors 4 will be available on PS3 and PS Vita versions exclusively through the PlayStation Store for $49.99 and $39.99, respectively. The PS4 standard edition will be available for $59.99, while the Samurai Warriors 4 Special Anime Pack will be available at participating retailers for $74.99.
