Watch Dogs has set records for being the fastest-selling new franchise in the game industry and as Ubisoft’s most pre-ordered game. As far as we’re concerned, it’s also just set a record for fastest release of a new DLC game mode, as the Watch Dogs Conspiracy! Digital Trip mode is now available for download.
The Watch Dogs Conspiracy! Digital Trip game mode is included in the Watch Dogs Season Pass. If you don’t have that, it can be purchased individually for $4.99.
Watch Dogs Conspiracy! Digital Trip is the first piece of DLC available for Ubisoft’s hit game. In the Watch Dogs Conspiracy! Digital Trip game mode, players must hunt cyborgs in a mind-bending alternate game universe.
The cyborg angle is a clear nod to the future, and considering its “alternate universe” in Chicago, it might even be a nod to the Terminator movies.
In the normal gameplay mode, Watch Dogs has players taking on the role Aiden Pearce, a hacker who’s on the hunt for the people who hurt his family. Aiden monitors and hacks his enemies by manipulating everything connected to the city’s Central Operating System (ctOS), which controls almost every piece of the city’s technology.
Doing so, players will access security cameras, locate targets by downloading personal info, control traffic lights and public transportation to stop enemies, and other such hacker-friendly activities. Cyborgs aren’t part of the normal picture.
Watch Dogs Conspiracy! Digital Trip is available for download now on PS4 and Xbox One. If you already own the $19.99 Watch Dogs Season Pass, the DLC is yours for free. Otherwise it’s available as stand-alone content for $4.99. If you find yourself a fan of Watch Dogs, you may want to pony-up for the Season Pass, as it will also include an upcoming single-player story that focuses on a new character, as well as separate single-player missions, outfits and weapons.
