On this even of Halloween and with the last Games with Gold October days among us, Microsoft has shared the list of free games on the Xbox Games with Gold for November 2014 roster. The question now is whether Xbox One and Xbox 360 owners feel that the Xbox Games with Gold for November 2014 free games list is more of a trick or a treat.
Microsoft has stuck with two traditions for Xbox One owners. First, following the popularity in October of the indie game Chariot, Xbox One owners will see another new indie game in the Games with Gold November 2014 list. Called Volgarr the Viking, the hack-and-slash platformer is an homage to decades-old games. The difficulty is high, the controls are two-button simple, and there’s a whole bunch of sword wielding and shield lifting to be had.
The second tradition is less encouraging. For the fourth or fifth month in a row, Xbox One owners will only see that one new game on the Xbox Games with Gold for November 2014 list. The second free game will be Chariot, which as mentioned above made its Games with Gold debut in October.
Xbox 360 owners get two entirely new free games as part of the Xbox Games with Gold for November 2014 program. The first is Viva Piñata: Trouble in Paradise. In this game Xbox 360 owners must build a garden home for piñatas while overcoming challenges from evil Professor Pester and his Ruffians. This Xbox Games with Gold for November 2014 free game also includes a sandbox mode in which players can simply build a garden, fill it with piñatas and watch it grow. It will be available via the Xbox Games with Gold for November 2014 program starting November 1 and ending November 15.
The second Xbox 360 free game in November is Red Faction: Guerilla. Red Faction: Guerilla will be the second game in the Xbox Games with Gold for November 2014, so it will appear on Xbox Live on November 16 and be there through November 30.
Unlike previous games in the Red Faction series, Guerilla takes place in an open world and has the Earth Defense Force as the bad guys after becoming corrupt rather than being good. The most important elements are intact, with a slew of weapons and vehicles and, above all, fully destructible buildings and cover objects.
