Master Chief isn’t married to Cortana, and most Helljumpers aren’t wed to anything but their work. But the live-action series Halo: Nightfall is still delving into betrothed territory, nabbing “The Good Wife” actor Mike Colter for the role of Agent Jameson Locke.
Halo: Nightfall is a live-action series that will be available to watch on Xbox One later this year. The series consists of five episodes that will release on a weekly basis as streaming video through Halo: The Master Chief Collection.
The series introduces a character named Jameson Locke, who will play “a key role” in Halo 5: Guardians, according to Microsoft. Taking place between the events of Halo 4 and Halo 5: Guardians, the story will shed light on the character Locke will eventually become in Halo 5: Guardians.
Mike Colter’s character, Locke, is billed as a legendary manhunter who, with his team, is caught in a horrific terrorist attack while investigating the distant colony world of Sedra. Led by Locke, the Office of Naval Intelligence (ONI) agents are forced to coordinate with a Sedran commander with a remarkable history and deep-rooted mistrust of ONI. As the plot unravels, they’re drawn to an ancient, hellish artifact where they’re forced to fight for their survival, question everything, and ultimately choose between their loyalties and their lives.
343 Industries, which is leading the Halo franchise now that Bungie’s moved on to Destiny, had a bunch more to share about Halo: Nightfall at San Diego Comic-Con. One element their recap didn’t include, however, was a b-roll snippet of Colter being interviewed about his role.
