The Microsoft Files: Part Two

April 21, 2003 by Sara

Last Monday we brought you the first of four interviews with Korey Krauskopf, the Test Manager for the Roleplaying, Adventure and Technology Studio at Microsoft Game Studios (MGS). The interview was an icebreaker of sorts, with Korey telling DailyGame readers about all of the hardship, heartbreak and hellacious tasks (yeah right) of being a paid game tester. In this week?s interview, we delve a bit deeper into the mind of the Microsoft game-testing guru, hearing his thoughts about testing for the Xbox versus testing for … [Read more...]

The Microsoft Files: Part One

April 14, 2003 by Sara

One month from today, the video-gaming world will converge on Los Angeles for the annual Electronic Entertainment Expo, better known (and more quickly referred to) as E3. This is the time when developers and publishers pull out all the stops, unveiling and demonstrating their premier games for the year ahead. As we prepare for E3 during the next four weeks, DailyGame will publish a four-part series of conversations we recently had with Korey Krauskopf (shown at right), the Test Manager for the Roleplaying, Adventure and … [Read more...]

The Greatest Games You've Never Played

April 10, 2003 by Sara

I'm not quite sure what it is, maybe it's poor marketing or a lack of internal support, but there are always those games that are simply amazing, but never seem to sell. Starting with today's column, I'm going to discuss some of these "greatest misses" and why it's not a bad idea to head over to Ebay, Half.com, Amazon or your local retailer and find a copy. Most of these games are older, so you'll find them pretty cheap wherever you do find them. To inaugurate this irregularly schedule series, I'd like to introduce you … [Read more...]

Exclusives, E3 and Thursday Lovin'

April 10, 2003 by Sara Leave a Comment

By now I hope you’ve read our Official Xbox Magazine game disks. Microsoft is smart in this sense, because they’re not forcing people to download content online. As gamers see the convenience of the downloadable content, though, they’ll begin to move toward broadband distribution rather than “hard” distribution via disks. It’s a baby step toward digitial distribution, and it’s most likely gentle enough that consumers will go for it. The PS2 doesn’t have the same downloadable model, but with the PS3’s cell technology and … [Read more...]

Interview with "Freestyle Metal X" Producer

April 2, 2003 by Sara

When Midway announced Freestyle Metal X, our ears immediately perked up. The game sounded intriguing, but would it be: A) a motocross racing game B) a Dave Mirra-esque stunt game C) a title rife with outrageous mini-games, or D) a one-trick pony that lets you ride around on player-created tracks? As it turns out, Freestyle Metal X is shaping up to be E) all of the above, minus the "one trick pony" bit. DailyGame recently spoke with the game's associate producer, Nico Bihary, who enlightened us about all that the game … [Read more...]

Interview with "Freaky Flyers" Producer

March 11, 2003 by Sara

It seems like quite a while since next-gen console gamers got their hands on an original cart-racing game. Midway is hoping to change that sad fact with the upcoming release of Freaky Flyers, an aerial cart-racing, dog-fighting adventure set for release this summer. DailyGame recently had the opportunity to interview Jeffery Buchanan, the producer of Freaky Flyers, to hear more about the title's goings-on in the last few months. The game is set to include literally dozens of unique and equally zany characters, so … [Read more...]

Interview with "Hunter: The Reckoning – Redeemer" Team

March 9, 2003 by Sara

When Hunter: The Reckoning launched in May 2002, the third-person hack-and-slasher was met with great fanfare. Anytime you have a game with fabulous graphics, tough-as-nails gameplay, strong RPG elements and four-player multiplayer, you're pretty darned sure you've got a winner on your hands. When Interplay announced it was creating a sequel to the game, we naturally perked up our ears. Hunter: The Reckoning - Redeemer is slated to take place in the same troubled town of Ashcroft, this time with another Hunter and a … [Read more...]
