In spite of its Oz-like name, the acclaimed comedy Four Lions has less to do about a fantasy world and everything to do about a farcical war on terror. Leave it to the British to take the gloves off with a topic that’s been overly whitewashed in terms of political correctness…. Having made its way onto many year-end Top Ten lists, Four Lions has just recently made its DVD and Blu-ray debut for home viewers, a retail DVD copy of which we just so happen to have for this free giveaway.
Four Lions takes viewers on a journey with a “home grown” cell and satirizes all sides of the war on terror through their fictional story. The film, lauded for its ability to be hilarious yet also “wickedly accurate,” demonstrates that extremists, through their shortcomings, are all too human. The film’s quintet of British would-be suicide bombers shows how terrorism may be about ideology, but is also about idiots. The five have as their goal to strike a decisive blow against the enemy, but when it all goes down in the end, there’s serious question as to whether any of them can strike a match without punching himself in the face.
