Yes, it’s pretty much official: we’re on a film noir kick, and we couldn’t be happier (thanks, 20th Century Fox!). Our latest film noir DVD giveaway is for Moontide, a film in which acclaimed French actor Jean Gabin made his U.S. film debut as Bobo, a free-spirited wander who docks in a seaside town with his friend Tiny. After a night of drunken debauchery (our kind of guys), Bobo awakens on a strange barge wearing the cap of a dead man. Afraid he has committed the crime, Bobo prepares to skip town with Tiny, but is delayed — of course — by a lovely young woman whom he rescues from drowning in the ocean. Tiny, who wants to leave, tries to destroy the relationship, and when the new woman in Bobo’s life learns Tiny’s dark secret, it’s clear that only one of them will survive.
