Although it may be old, Speed Racer remains one of the most highly regarded cartoon series in the past several decades, a fact that meant Warner Bros. had to tread lightly when giving the “green light” to a Speed Racer feature film. Rather than go the animated route, Warner opted for a mixed-media film a la Roger Rabbit to present the Mach 5. The result is a unique blend of visual effects and live-action acting in which Speed Racer takes on Racer X to save his family’s business and the sport he loves. His family (John Goodman and Susan Sarandon) are supportive, of course, and so are we. So supportive, in fact, that we’re giving away one copy of Speed Racer on DVD. Just please forgive us for getting the “Go, Speed Racer, go!” song stuck in your head….
