Many classic Old West films like The Spikes Gang, which originally released in 1974, have for various reasons never made the leap to DVD. MGM and Twentieth Century Fox have decided to change that for fans of the genre — and several others, for that matter — by deciding to release more than 400 films on DVD that have never before appeared on the format. We wanted to offer a contest that’s never before happened either, so we’re giving away one brand-new retail DVD of The Spikes Gang.
In The Spikes Gang, Lee Marvin gives a spellbinding performance as a wounded outlaw who appears as a romantic figure to two impressionable youths, Ron Howard and Gary Grimes. (Ron Howard as a youth…see, we told you it was an old flick.) Nursed back to health by the boys, the outlaw enlists them in his robberies, then callously betrays them.
The DVD release of The Spikes Gang includes the full film as well as the original movie trailer.
