London, United Kingdom – iPhone users are being sought after for a Top Secret mission to look after and nurture a rare egg containing an extraterrestrial life form. Once hatched, this Alien Hatchi will need help to grow through several stages of evolution. There are many different forms the Alien Hatchi can take depending on how well it’s cared for, but if it’s neglected by its care-taker, he will die – which could be bad for everyone on earth.
Each Alien Hatchi is cared for through an interface developed by Portable Pixels. A successfully raised Alien Hatchi will be smarter, happier, and require less attention. The objective is to successfully care for the Alien Hatchi until it is a fully grown adult able to get back to his own planet.
Hatchi caretakers will need to earn credits to purchase items necessary for the care and feeding of their pet alien. They will even be able to use their iPhone’s GPS to collect space dust which is highly valuable commodity which can be traded in the shop.
Alien Hatchi is a modernized, full-color version of Portable Pixels’ Hatchi, the retro-looking Tamagotchi-style app that quickly rose to become one of the best-selling iPhone games in the UK, Australia and many other countries. Just as with the keychain-sized Tamagotchi pets, users feed, clean, play with and generally look after their pets to ensure they grow up to be healthy, happy little Hatchis.
In his review of Hatchi, Touch Arcade reviewer Brad Nicholson remarked, “It’s hilarious, but I really, really, really don’t want Big Poppa Pump (his Hatchi monster) to bite the dust. I’ve somehow bonded with the thing, as silly as that sounds, and the competitive part of my brain wants to see an evolution based on my meticulous play.”
