Players control Asva, the lazy little monkey, as he leaps from square to square. A very challenging game, Asva can leap any distance, but can only move ahead, to the left, or to the right. Players are unable to turn around, move diagonally, or jump over squares, and they must carefully plan jumps to avoid losing because no legal move remains. The debut app from Cambodia’s first game studio, Asva the Monkey HD was the number one paid game in the Cambodian App Store from the first day of its release. Since then it has been recognized for its beautiful graphics, relaxing traditional Cambodian music style, and the addicting puzzling gameplay itself that would keep everyone up for hours.

For centuries, chess players have puzzled over the Knight’s Tour. According to Wikipedia, “A knight’s tour is a sequence of moves of a knight on a chessboard such that the knight visits every square exactly once. If the knight ends on a square that is one knight’s move from the beginning square (so that it could tour the board again immediately, following the same path), the tour is closed, otherwise it is open. The exact number of open tours on an 8×8 chessboard is still unknown.
“The knight’s tour problem is the mathematical problem of finding a knight’s tour. Creating a program to find a knight’s tour is a common problem given to computer science students. Variations of the knight’s tour problem involve chessboards of different sizes than the usual 8 x 8, as well as irregular (non-rectangular) boards.”
Asva the Monkey HD presents puzzle fans with a challenge that is similar to the Knight’s Tour. At the start of each level, Asva is standing impatiently on a square. There are 5 or more additional squares, one of which contains the crystal, which requires that the monkey end his tour on that square. With two givens, the starting and ending square, players must figure out how to successfully visit every square in the puzzle.
Rules of the Game:
* Objective: visit all the squares to pick up the crystal
* Players can move forward, turn left, or turn right
* Players cannot move backward or diagonally
* Players lose if there are no legal moves remaining
* Players lose if they fall into the hole that may open beneath the crystal
* Players can use magical items to help them in the game (Undo to get to the previous step; Dash to get a head start with the first 5 steps; and Flash to show the way to solve the puzzle)
This is not always easy. Inevitably, players will find that they are left with no possible moves or cannot reach the last square. Fortunately, the game includes some magical items that players can use to help solve especially difficult puzzles. Using the Dash sends Asva leaping through the first 5 squares required to solve the puzzle, giving players a 5-move head start. Undo allows players to retrace a misstep, providing a timely rescue to players who suddenly find themselves in an unwinnable situation. Lastly, employing the Flash item quickly displays the correct path to players who can remember the solution that flashes on the screen. Magical items can be earned by capturing slices of watermelon during gameplay, or they can be acquired through an in-app purchase.
