Cirencester, United Kingdom – Neon Play, developers of hits like Traffic Panic and Paper Glider are back with another fun title. Jewel Jumper 1.2 for iOS is an energetic game of chase, can you avoid the clutches of the fierce and terrifying Big Daddy?
The game begins with a short cartoon introduction to the story. You play as Spike, a little red dragon who must help his friends escape Big Daddy. Once upon a time, in a land far, far away. A roar ripped through the Sky Kingdom. The time had come for a brave new hero.
The game then explodes straight into the action, with a short tutorial giving a taste of things to come including upgrades that will help you on your way.
Each of the 100 levels has one of Spike’s friends trapped. Playing as Spike you must carefully manoeuvre your way through the mission, all while being chased by the monster, Big Daddy. When you make it to the end you jump over a castle wall and save your friend, don’t worry it is too strong for Big Daddy to destroy.
The levels work in a side scrolling style, with a destructive Big Daddy trying to catch up. Each level gets progressively more and more taxing as obstacles are introduced, including mud, spikes, bolts of electricity (ouch!) and killer mines. Each obstacle slows Spike down, allowing Big Daddy to catch up as he tries to smash you off course.
Throughout the levels jewels can be collected, and lost if you jump on a set of spikes. Jewels can be spent on continues, should Big Daddy catch you. Alternatively you can spend them on upgrades or costumes. There are seven different upgrades, each with six level ups. Upgrades can really help in later missions, for example level one armor boots will protect you from mud, whereas level two will protect from mud and spikes!
Costumes are not just an opportunity to dress Spike up in a variety of cool outfits, they also act as a bonus, giving you extra jewels for looking the part…there is even a mankini, very nice!
Socially, Jewel Jumper has a lot to offer with Facebook, Twitter and Game Center integration. Facebook likes and Twitter follows unlock fun extras for Spike to wear in the game, with a trendy pair of Twitter branded sunglasses and a cool Facebook baseball cap.
Game Center has 450 points up for grabs in 100 quests and missions, including ‘Co-roar-dinated’ where you have to survive Big Daddy for 5 minutes and ‘Psychedelic’ if you manage to hit 25 mushrooms.
Only the most budding and brave will make it over the Happy Hills, through the Mushroom Forest, into the Golden Desert, past the Crystal Peaks to the Sky Castle. But for those who do, Jewel Jumper is certainly a game that will keep you entertained.
