Tempe, Arizona – Cliqueyou today is pleased to announce the release of version 3.0 of Chess Opening Trainer for iPad. Chess Opening Trainer was mainly intended to be a tool for building and mastering chess opening repertoire. Although the previous versions were sufficient for the intended purpose, there was no way to incorporate key positions or ‘tabiya’, an important concept in mastering chess openings. This release now gives the users the ability to bookmark any position (key positions or ‘tabiya’) in their repertoire so they can focus and train more on what’s most important.
In addition, Chess Opening Trainer 3.0 now goes beyond opening training by supporting FEN (Forsyth-Edwards Notation) positions, which are positions that start from any position other than the normal start position of the chess games. This means that users can now use Chess Opening Trainer as a position trainer for tactics, end games and other essential positions. Also, users can now collect and build their own position library and ‘priyomes’ (typical maneuvers in positions). It is well known that the Polgar sisters founded their intuition on their family’s enormous chess position library. The famous chess author and grandmaster Lev Alburt strongly recommends that students collect and build their own collection of chess positions.
With this release, Chess Opening Trainer is now in full compliance to the formula of grandmaster Andrew Soltis which states “Half of ‘studying the opening’ is memorization. Memory gives you the freedom to play auto-pilot moves… The other half of ‘studying the opening’ is developing an understanding of what to do afterward.”
