Vienna, Austria – Vienna-based indie game developer bobblebrook is proud to announce the release of their third iOS game “coign of vantage” today. Based on the company’s same-titled hit Flash game, “coign of vantage” is a perspective puzzle game that becomes more of a “zen-exercise” (kotaku.com) as you play it: You’re given a three-dimensional cloud of pixels which line up to form an icon from one and only one perspective. Your job is to rotate this cloud of pixels until the image emerges.
After its initial release in 2008, the Flash version of “coign of vantage” quickly became a major success, being linked to from sites like kotaku, boingboing, Wired blogs, FHM and College Humor. It also made the front pages of reddit and del.icio.us. The original Flash game is still available here: http://www.bobblebrook.com/games/coign-of-vantage
“coign of vantage” is currently priced at USD 0.99 / EUR 0.79. The game is a universal app, running on both iPhone and iPad. A lite version (containing the “ten on time” game mode) is also available.
“We are really excited about this release.”, said bobblebrook co-founder Markus Mundjar, “When we published the original game, the feedback we received really took us by surprise. The first night, we pulled an all-nighter trying to keep our server running, while sites like StumbleUpon or reddit would pound it with requests.”
“We’ve completely re-done the game’s visuals for the iOS version, and we think it turned out great.”, said his partner Philipp Seifried, “We liked the minimalist design and meandering particle effects of the original, and we tried to preserve that. But the graphics power you get on an iPhone is so far beyond anything you could do in Flash at the time, that we couldn’t resist giving the game a face-lift.”

Founded by Markus Mundjar and Philipp Seifried, bobblebrook is a small and independent studio located in Vienna. Their original background was in Flash game development, but with the opportunities of the iOS ecosystem and the decline of the Flash platform, their focus has shifted towards mobile games. bobblebrook’s first iOS releases were “drifts”; a moody casual game, and “CellShades”, an experimental sandbox-type application which lets you play with colonies of cells.
