Designed for first, second, and third graders and available now on the App Store for $1.99 USD, Chocolate Chip Cookie Factory: Place Value is a fun game that engages kids to explore, develop, and apply place value concepts as they work to fulfill and deliver increasingly complex cookie orders.
Players take on the role of owner of the Chocolate Chip Cookie Factory. Their job is to ship and deliver cookies to their customers as fast as possible. Cookies are sold by ones… or in stacks (tens), boxes (hundreds), cartons (thousands), crates (tens of thousands), pallets (hundreds of thousands), and trucks (millions). Tap on an item to add it to an order. The order will ship or be delivered when the cookie count matches the cookie order. But players need to keep an eye on the clock. If they are too slow, their customers will buy their cookies from someone else!
Players learn place value concepts and practice math facts as they count, add, subtract, multiply, and divide their way to a global cookie empire. The game play itself lays the foundation for conceptual understanding and future instruction, and enables kids to discover intuitive processes for counting, addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division before those processes are introduced in the classroom and presented as paper-and-pencil algorithms. Common core math standards addressed include: 1.NBT.2, 1.NBT.4, 1.NBT.6, 2.NBT.1, 2.NBT.5, 2.NBT.7, 2.NBT.8, 3.NBT.2, and 3.NBT.3.
The game is featured by Apple on the App Store under new educational games and new kids games, and includes 30 levels and the option to track sales records for up to four players. An online demo and learning guide are available.
