To play the game, users must take control of a single cherry to defeat the advancing army of insects. Swiping the screen in any direction makes the cherry spit a seed in that direction. Hitting the bug with a seed squashes the bug and scores points.
As players advance through the levels, they are awarded additional pieces of fruit to mount a multi-fruit defense against the hungry insects. Different types of fruit possess varying level of strength. Typically, the stronger attack the fruit possesses, the longer the recovery time between shots, so users must chooses their shots carefully.
Each type of bug also has its own characteristics. The patterns of attack are also ever changing, so a user can play the same level over and over again without getting too familiar with it. The levels are just difficult enough to keep players interested, but easy enough to understand that the game is fun for children and adults alike.
Eight different available tables, each with their own features and barriers, also ensure a challenging game. As users improve their skills and their scores, they can check their place in the standings through the Game Center and Fruit Rumble leader board.
