Long Beach, California – Indie developer Sergey Safonov today is pleased to introduce Scramble: Word Puzzle Game 1.0 for iOS, his mind-altering game where players must rearrange a group of letters to form a word in as few turns as possible. Played against Zen-like background photos, it is unlike typical word games that permit moving individual letters to any position. Scramble players must move a contiguous group of one or more letters off the screen by dragging it offscreen to the left or right. Moved letters reappear in reverse order on the opposite side of the screen. For example, given the letters MBLEARCS, the player drags ARCS all the way to the right until it reappears reversed on the left side of the screen to spell SCRAMBLE.
Feature Highlights:
* Challenging word puzzle game, dragging letter groups offscreen
* Spatial and linear thinking skills are required
* Relax, and allow your mind to solve the puzzle before you move a single letter
* Beautiful, HiRes photos put you in a state of restful alertness
* Challenge friends and family to find the solutions in 2, 3, or 4 moves
Word games are a special favorite of puzzle fans, and Scramble offers a new kind of word puzzle game inspired by the virtual depth of flat, touchscreen mobile devices. In the example above, imagine a circular track that holds all the letters. When the letter group ARCS circles to the right and emerges from the left, the first letter to reappear onscreen is S, the second is C, the third is R, and the fourth is A, hence the transformation from ARCS to SCRA.
Each puzzle is represented by a thumbnail photo. Touching the photo brings up a fullscreen, HiRes display of the photo, whose focus softens, and the puzzle appears onscreen. A superscript number follows the final letter, indicating the minimum number of moves required to solve the puzzle. During gameplay this number is decremented by 1 each time the player makes a move, keeping score.
Really a two-part puzzle, players must first solve the anagram of 8 or more letters, and then devise a strategy of moving letter groups to create the word. As in Scrabble, some players will start by rearranging letters in a trial and error effort to find a possible word.
“One of the most challenging, mind-bending word puzzles for iOS, Scramble will force you to consult the spatial skills of your right brain to solve the word identification problem tackled by your left brain,” commented Sergey Safonov.
