Developer Tap ‘n Cap Apps today introduced their first word game for iPad: Text Tumble HD. In this jumble-crossword hybrid, the player’s goal is to guess 15 related words in one of 270 puzzles divided into 18 themes. Sounding deceptively simple, it will still challenge even the most seasoned word game enthusiasts. Humorous and helpful hints are earned by guessing correct words, which can be used for a nudge in the right direction when needed.
The 30 letters shown to the player for each puzzle is all they’ll need to guess all 15 words, but some of those letters may not be needed. The first 45 puzzles comprised of 650 words are free, including the general knowledge themes Places, Jobs and Sports. A variety of specialty themes can be purchased which raises the number of puzzles to 270, containing 4050 words carefully chosen to balance the difficulty of the game.

The first few words of each puzzle are normally easy to guess, but players will rack their brains trying to think of those last few remaining words. To help, the player acquires tokens for every word they get right, which can then be exchanged for a range of hints. Hints include a crossword-style clue, the revealing of the first or last letter of a word, and the expensive ‘Reveal All Vowels’.
