A new game called Splash Dash for iOS has put a new spin on the classic “endless runner” genre. Instead of running, jumping and sliding, gamers must bounce their frog upstream through a 3D environment while avoiding predators.
It’s not exactly like the classic Frogger game, but it melds that classic arcade game with some of the features of the modern mobile genre. In Splash Dash, you guide the frog upstream as you try to stay one hop ahead of an angry crocodile ready for his midday snack. All the while, you can get a little help from friendly characters by doing things like hopping on a bird or bouncing on the back of a grasshopper to create even more separation from the hungry croc.
Just make sure to keep your eyes open to avoid pesky logs and baby crocodiles by bouncing on lily pads, bubbles and floating turtles.
Your frog isn’t going to get better, faster and stronger from cardio alone. So, borrowing from other genre stalwarts, you can collect power-ups and boosters as you go upstream, and even grab coins with which you can customize your frog’s style and performance.
