The sci-fi, action thriller Source Code will release on Blu-ray Disc on July 26, the first time the critically acclaimed mind-bender will hit home audiences. Source Code tells the Groundhog Day-like story of a soldier who wakes up in the body of an unknown man and discovers he’s part of a mission to identify the bomber of a Chicago commuter train.
Both the Blu-ray and DVD versions feature audio commentary with Jake Gyllenhaal, director Duncan Jones & writer Ben Ripley. Yet Source Code on Blu-ray is really where the content kicks off, highlighted by the dynamic “Access: Source Code” feature that lets viewers explore different aspects of the film as the movie plays. This interactive feature offers scene-specific behind-the-scenes information, including interviews with the cast and crew, pop-up trivia, animated shorts and commentary from scientific experts on time travel.
Here’s a quick synopsis of Source Code, for those who didn’t see the previews or see it in theaters: When soldier Captain Colter Stevens (Gyllenhaal) wakes up in the body of an unknown man, he discovers he’s part of an experimental government program called the “Source Code” that enables him to cross over into another man’s identity in the last eight minutes of his life. Armed with the task of identifying the bomber of a Chicago commuter train, Colter must re-live the incident over and over again, gathering clues until he can solve the mystery and prevent an even deadlier second terrorist attack.
