A Million Ways to Die in the West Blu-ray Rides Home Oct. 7

September 3, 2014 by Sara Leave a Comment

Universal’s “A Million Ways to Die in the West” will be available on Digital HD on Sept. 9, but those waiting for a disc-based version will have to wait more than a month. The studio has announced the A Million Ways to Die in the West Blu-ray release date isn’t until Oct. 7.

Waiting for the A Million Ways to Die in the West Blu-ray set may be worth it, though. Universal Studios said the disc-based version will include a never-before-seen unrated version of the film. The unrated version isn’t comprised of a few more snippets or extended scenes. Instead, it provides a full 18 additional minutes of runtime.

Seth MacFarlane, creator of Family Guy, plays in the movie a man named Albert Stark. After losing his fickle fiancee to a mustachioed man, he rebounds hard with a gorgeous gunslinger new to his Old West town. What he doesn’t know is that Anna’s ex is the most dangerous desperado on the horizon, and he’s on his way to reclaim his gal.

In addition to the theatrical and unrated version of the film, the A Million Ways to Die in the West Blu-ray Combo Pack includes a DVD and Digital HD with UltraViolet copy of the film.

As for bonus features, the Blu-ray exclusive ones include:

  • An Alternate Ending
  • Deleted/Extended/Alternate Scenes
  • Once Upon a Time in A Different West – A behind the scenes look at what it took to pull all the pieces together.
  • The Good, The Bad and the Increasingly Decreasing Population – Learn about some of the familiar faces that pop into Old Stump including one of the greatest cameos of them all, a visit from Christopher Lloyd aka Doc Brown.
  • Unrated commentary with director/producer/co-writer Seth MacFarlane, co-writers and executive producers Alec Sulkin & Wellesley Wild and star Charlize Theron

The Blu-ray set also includes some bonus features that it shares with the DVD-only set. Those are a Gag Reel, a Feature-length Commentary, and “A Fistful of Dirt … In Your Mouth,” a behind-the-scenes featurette about the various shooting locations.

If interested, you can pre-order the A Million Ways to Die in the West Blu-ray Combo Pack from Amazon.com. It’s currently just $23, which is a pretty nice discount for an unreleased title.
