Sucker Punch Coming to Blu-ray on June 28

May 27, 2011 by Sara Leave a Comment

Warner Bros. logoSucker Punch is going to hit Blu-ray retailers on June 28 with 18 additional minutes of footage and 11 minutes of animated shorts. The Xbox 360 and PS3 versions, meanwhile, will include their own unique bonus content. You can pre-order Sucker Punch on Blu-ray from Amazon using this link: Sucker Punch (Blu-ray/DVD + Digital Copy Combo Pack). The console versions are not available for pre-order.

Sucker Punch got all sorts of theatrical buzz when it released, so its Blu-ray release is bound to get some people excited. If you don’t know much about the film, though, here’s a quick synopsis: A girl named Babydoll (Emily Browning) has been locked away against her will, but she’s not lost her will to survive. Determined to fight for her freedom, she urges four other young girls – the reluctant Sweet Pea (Abbie Cornish), the outspoken Rocket (Jena Malone), the street-smart Blondie (Vanessa Hudgens) and the fiercely loyal Amber (Jamie Chung) – to band together and try to escape a terrible fate at the hands of their captors, Blue (Oscar Isaac) and Madam Gorski (Carla Gugino), before the mysterious High Roller (Jon Hamm) comes for Babydoll.

Led by Babydoll, the girls engage in fantastical warfare against everything from samurais to serpents, with a virtual arsenal at their disposal. Together, they must decide what they are willing to sacrifice in order to stay alive. But with the help of a Wise Man (Scott Glenn), their unbelievable journey – if they succeed – will set them free.

The Sucker Punch Blu-ray Combo Pack will feature a high-definition, standard-definition and digital copy of the film, for $35.99. There will also be a single-disc DVD version for $28.98.

Now, what about those bonus features? Glad you asked. The Sucker Punch Blu-ray Combo Pack will include:

  • Theatrical Feature Film and Extended Cut
  • Maximum Movie Mode: Exploring the Fantasy World: An immersive movie exploration with host Zack Snyder – featuring Picture-in-Picture, Director Walk-Ons, and much more (Runtime: Feature Length)
  • Animated Shorts: “Sucker Punch” Prequel Stories (Combined runtime for these four shorts: 11 mins)
    • Feudal Warriors
    • The Trenches
    • Dragon
    • Distant Planet
  • Sucker Punch Behind the Soundtrack (Runtime: 3 mins)

The DVD version of Sucker Punch will only include the Animated Shorts and “Behind the Soundtrack” feature.

Meanwhile, the Sucker Punch Extended Cut will be available through iTunes, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 with the following exclusive bonus content:

  • Empowering the Mind: “Sucker Punch” Style (Runtime: 4 mins)
  • The Art of “Sucker Punch”: Alex Pardee (Runtime: 5 mins)
