The Florida State football gods have been smiling on Jameis Winston and Co. for the entire season, particularly during the past three games. The lone undefeated FBS team, FSU has played from behind in almost half of its wins this year, and it’s won its past three games by less than a touchdown. Though they gave up their playoff and AP poll rankings last week, FSU can still lock-up a playoff spot with a win in the ACC Championship Game today against Georgia Tech. If you’re not near a television you can watch Florida State vs Georgia Tech live free ACC Championship Game online streaming.
Kickoff for today’s ACC Championship game between the Florida State Seminoles and Georgia Tech is scheduled for 8pm EST / 5pm PST from Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, NC. It’s a neutral field for both teams.
If FSU gets behind against No. 11 Georgia Tech today, the Yellow Jackets could make it hard for the Seminoles to have yet another come-from-behind victory. The FSU football team lives and dies by QB Jameis Winston, who leads the Seminoles offense largely with his arm. In FSU’s pro-set offense, Winston has passed for 3,250 yards and 21 TDs this season, but he’s been Mr. Interception lately and has struggled to show last year’s Heisman form.
It’ll be interesting to watch FSU football game live today against Georgia Tech to see how Winston fares against a Yellow Jackets defense giving up 220.8 yards per game. Perhaps even more interesting, though, is seeing whether the entire ACC Championship game turns into a shootout of different techniques.
FSU is no defensive powerhouse, especially against the run. While Winston may exploit Georgia Tech’s poor pass defense, Georgia Tech has an incredible rushing game that could wreak havoc on FSU’s 41st-ranked rush defense. Georgia Tech enters the ACC Championship Game averaging 333.8 rushing yards per game. Quarterback Justin Thomas is a big reason, as he leads the team both in passing (obviously) but also in rushing, where he has 861 yards on the ground.
Thomas is a product of the Yellow Jackets’ system, a triple-option offense that few teams run and that the Seminoles have only faced one other time this season. Though the Seminoles beat The Citadel, the Bulldogs rushed 56 times for 250 yards, and Georgia Tech has Thomas and a host of better athletes running the triple-option. FSU will have its hands full for sure.
Meanwhile, Florida State tailback Karlos Williams will miss today’s ACC Championship Game against Georgia Tech after suffering a concussion last week against Florida. His sub against the Gators, freshman Dalvin Cook, performed admirably with 144 yards and will get the starting nod as we watch Florida State vs Georgia Tech live free online or on TV. Williams had been averaging 4.4 yards per carry.
Can Florida State hang onto its playoff position, or will it dig a hole that Georgia Tech’s run-heavy (read: clock-eating) offense won’t allow FSU to climb back out of?
