Just in time to capitalize on the theatrical release of Journey to the Center of the Earth starring Brendan Fraser, THQ today shipped Journey to the Center of the Earth for the Nintendo DS.
Taking place during events from the film, Journey to the Center of the Earth lets players use the Nintendo DS stylus while navigating through all seven underground worlds from the movie. A variety of mini-games have players rock climb, dig for dinosaur bones and raft across an ancient sea.
Players will play as all three main characters from the film: Trevor, Sean and Hannah. Each character has his or her own unique abilities.
As for the film, Journey To The Center Of The Earth 3-D stars Brendan Fraser (The Mummy Trilogy) as a science professor whose untraditional hypotheses have made him the laughing stock of the academic community. While on an expedition in Iceland, he and his nephew stumble upon a major discovery that launches them on a journey deep beneath the Earth’s surface, where they travel through never-before-seen worlds and encounter unusual creatures.
The film is of course based on the classic Jules Verne novel — minus the whole “3-D” thing added to the end.
