In its grand tradition of selling you stuff you already own, Nintendo is about to release yet another DS system that has nothing new to it other than its color. But you know it’s going to sell like hotcakes…. Called “Metallic Silver,” the new DS will go on sale on Sept. 7.
The new Metallic Silver DS is a bit shinier than the standard DS, but other than that doesn’t differ in any way other than its “special treatment” by appearing in print ads featuring actress Liv Tyler.
Although many Nintendo fans were hoping for a new slimmer/lighter/robust DS, the Metallic Silver DS differs from other units in color alone. This means you’ll be able to play New Super Mario Bros., Mario Kart DS or The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass just as you’ve been playing them for weeks and months.
