NBA 2K9 shipped to retail today for both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. A PS2 version is also available. In addition to the standard upgrades (animations and a deeper franchise mode), NBA 2K9 also includes “Team Up,” a mode that enables online 5-on-5 games.
For gamers interested in EA’s Dynamic DNA feature for its NBA Live 09, 2K Sports has implemented a similar feature called Living Rosters. The features on both games enable gamers to download up-to-date player ratings and tendencies throughout the NBA season to accurately reflect real-world stats and rosters rather than pre-determined data.
Gamers today can also register online for The Other Season, an online fantasy league in which NBA 2K9 gamers get to play for real-life NBA superstars who are participating as fantasy team owners. Online gamers playing exclusively on Xbox Live and PlayStation Network can be drafted onto one of the NBA superstars’ NBA 2K9 fantasy teams.
Now that’s a cool feature, eh?
