Ratchet & Clank Hit the PS2 Again

March 11, 2008 by Sara Leave a Comment

Ratchet & Clank may have had a great PS3 debut with Tools of Destruction, but that doesn’t mean the dynamic duo is done with “other” Sony platforms. Case in point: Sony today shipped Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters for the PS2.

If the game sounds familiar, that’s because Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters used to be a PSP title; Sony updated the game for its release on PlayStation 2. Among the updates are a remapped control scheme, re-worked lighting and textures and the addition of two-player split-screen support.

The head-to-head split-screen multiplayer option is a completely new feature for the Ratchet & Clank franchise. In this mode, two players battle on one of four different maps in Capture the Flag or the team based Iron Lombax game mode, which finds players competing to accomplish unique tasks such as collecting Martian cows to create meat crates and fill delivery trucks, the first to fill their truck wins.

Here’s the game’s premise/plot, for those who don’t know: Following the trail of a kidnapped girl, Ratchet and Clank rediscover a forgotten race of genius inventors known as the Technomites. They soon uncover a dangerous plot, so with hallmark Ratchet & Clank gameplay, upgradable weapons and customizable armor, players will shrink and enlarge to explore the inside of Clank’s head, or fly through space as Giant Clank. Their mission: to save the day, of course.
