KOEI today announced that Samurai Warriors 2 Xtreme Legends has “gone gold” for Xbox 360 and PS2, putting it on track to be available in North America next week. For the Xbox 360, the game will be a download available via Xbox Live Marketplace.
This latest installment features six legendary samurai, each with its own storyline and new weapons. Samurai Warriors 2 Xtreme Legends also introduces a new Mercenary mode, the redesigned battlefields of “Okehazama” and “Shikoku,” and new charge attacks.
In addition, Samurai Warriors 2 Xtreme Legends introduces six new playable characters: Toshiie Maeda, Gracia, Motochika Chosokabe, Katsuie Shibata, Kojiro Sasaki and Yoshimoto Imagawa. All of these characters will be available in the new Mercenary mode, which will let players hire other samurai to fight alongside them.
Samurai Warriors 2 Xtreme Legends can also be “remixed” with Samurai Warriors 2 to add new Xtreme Legends features to the original game (which is sold separately). With the Remix feature, players can use the characters from Samurai Warriors 2 in Samurai Warriors 2 Xtreme Legends. Players can also play the original game’s Story mode, Survival mode and Sugoroku modes using the six new characters.
This Remix feature also increases character growth level maximums from 50 to 70, adds new charge attacks and adds a fifth weapon level to each of the original Samurai Warriors 2 characters.
Samurai Warriors 2 Xtreme Legends for Xbox 360 requires the original Samurai Warriors 2 game disc (again, it’s sold separately). The “expansion” will be available on Xbox Live Marketplace for 2400 Microsoft Points. The PS2 version can be played with or without the original Samurai Warriors 2 game disc. Consumers can find Samurai Warriors 2 Xtreme Legends for PlayStation 2 at traditional retailers and online outlets (including the DailyGame Store).
