1942: Joint Strike Takes off on PS3, Xbox 360 in Late July

July 9, 2008 by Sara Leave a Comment

Capcom today announced that 1942: Joint Strike, the next chapter in its 1942 games (the entire 194X series, in fact), will release in late July for the PS3 and Xbox 360. The the Xbox Live Arcade version will take to the digital skies on July 23, while the PlayStation Network version will be available July 24.

1942: Joint Strike is a vertical arcade shooter not unlike the original arcade games, but with next-gen visuals and online play. The gameplay is similar to the 2D style that gamers expect, but it’s implemented using a 3D engine.

The online component of the new 1942: Joint Strike is two-player online cooperative play.

In addition to the graphical and audio updates, the game also has a new score created by Norihiko Hibino, a composer known for creating music for the Metal Gear series.
