While you’re busy white-knuckling it across the United States in Need for Speed: The Run, you may be craving something a bit more arcadey — something we never thought we’d say when referring to the Need for Speed franchise. If you are, though, Digital Reality today announced a new XBLA, PSN and Windows PC game called Bang Bang Racing.
A release date for Bang Bang Racing hasn’t yet been announced, but a few gameplay details have emerged. For starters, the game will include multiple exotic racing locations around the world, with nine reversible circuits spread across those locations, each with unique shortcuts. The vehicle count, meanwhile, will be 20 total cars spread across four different classes: muscle cars, stock car series, world endurance championship and Formula One open-wheel cars.
Bang Bang Racing will include local split-screen multiplayer for up to four players, and since it’s a downloadable title via Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network, it’s obviously going to include online multiplayer support and global Leaderboards.
The races are being billed as “unpredictable,” with interactive objects like cones and exploding barrels spread dynamically across each course. The courses in Bang Bang Racing will also have variable surface conditions that affect how each car performs. The conditions will be as varied as the track locations: snow, sand, water and oil.
Yes, racing on oil. Must be a derrick there somewhere.
A release date and pricing for Bang Bang Racing will be announced at a later date.
