Battlefield: Bad Company 2 will release for the PS3 and Xbox 360 on March 2, 2010, EA announced today. Battlefield: Bad Company 2 will follow in the footsteps of the original game’s destruction, vehicular warfare, squad play and open-world environments, but in what is sure to be music to the ears of franchise fans, DICE promises to “push destruction to new heights.”
That’s a very, very good thing.
Karl Magnus Troedsson, DICE’s Executive Producer of the Battlefield Franchise, has even more boisterous claims that should wet gamers’ appetite: “When Battlefield: Bad Company 2 ships in March, it will deliver the best online multiplayer experience ever,” he says.
In typical Battlefield fashion, Battlefield: Bad Company 2 will have a whole host of vehicles — 15 in total — all authentically modeled. There will even be a new UH-60 transport helicopter to ship entire four-player squads directly into battle while two squadmates unleash metal Hell using on-board rail guns.
There will also be a bunch of weapons — 46 in total — and more than 15,000 kit variations.
New to Battlefield: Bad Company 2 will be a “micro-destruction” mechanic that allows players to chip away at their enemies’ cover bit by bit, or take down an entire building and watch it collapse with enemies inside. That’s a great page from the Red Faction: Guerilla playbook, and it’s one we look forward to checking out on March 2, 2010, when Battlefield: Bad Company 2 ships in North America.
The game will ship for PS3 and Xbox 360 on March 5 in Europe.
