BioShock Infinite DLC Burial at Sea Returns to Rapture

July 30, 2013 by Sara Leave a Comment

BioShock InfiniteBioShock Infinite marked a fantastic return to Ken Levine’s vision of an alternate-reality world, as you can read in our BioShock Infinite review. It looks like Xbox 360 and PS3 gamers will see another “return” of sorts, as Irrational Games has announced an upcoming batch of BioShock Infinite DLC will take gamers back to Rapture. Rapture, which made a brief appearance in the last stage of BioShock Infinite, was the underwater setting for the original BioShock.

BioShock Infinite: Burial at Sea is a two-part add-on campaign featuring an all-new story for Booker and Elizabeth. A release date was not announced. The forthcoming DLC is set in the underwater city of Rapture before its fall, which presents some interesting time/space possibilities for the two BioShock Infinite characters. (Although time and space oddities were conceptually discussed in Elizabeth’s ‘explanatory’ narrative in the core game).

Irrational Games did not divulge any specifics about the second part of the two-part Burial at Sea campaign. Judging by the price, though, both chapters will be quite large. Each of the BioShock Infinite DLC campaigns will be available for $15.00 (1200 Microsoft Points), which will set you back $30 if purchased separately. Fortunately, they will also be included as part of the BioShock Infinite Season Pass, which only costs $19.99 (1600 Microsoft Points).

There is a batch of BioShock Infinite available today, however. Called BioShock Infinite: Clash in the Clouds, the DLC is an action-focused pack that presents players with a series of unique challenges and a range of intense combat opportunities. Players will encounter Tears and Sky-Lines as they play through four new areas in the BioShock Infinite DLC that are inspired by the classic BioShock Infinite environments.

In addition, by completing all 60 Blue Ribbon challenges in BioShock Infinite: Clash in the Clouds, players will unlock exclusives in the Columbian Archeological Society. These exclusives will include access to new Voxophones, Kinetoscopes, concept art and more.

BioShock Infinite: Clash in the Clouds is available today for $4.99 (400 Microsoft Points on Xbox 360). It is also included in the BioShock Infinite Season Pass.
